Material Safety Data Sheet
PRODUCTS: CLEANER 10, 10RI, 10LF, 10RILF
WHAT IS THE MSDS? The Material Safety Data Sheet, sometimes called OSHA Form 20, must be prepared and furnished by every manufacturer of a product used today in the USA. By law, you are entitled to see a copy of this MSDS for every product you work with or are exposed to in your working area. This sheet has several portions which describe the product, its hazardous components (if any), boiling point, flammability, reactivity, how to handle, how to dispose, how to store, conditions to avoid, protective clothing and many other important characteristics pertaining to the safe use of the product. Note especially Section 2 where all hazardous materials must be shown, along with their TLV numbers. See below for explanation of the TLV. Note also the disposal procedures, the fire hazards, and spill or leak procedures. Knowledge of these items now could save your health or life later in an emergency. WHAT SHOULD I KNOW ABOUT DECEPTIVE PRACTICES WHILE READING THE MSDS? Some manufacturers omit information in Section 2 and simply say "For further information consult the factory." Be suspicious if you see this--it may mean that there are hazards that the company would like to avoid discussing. Some manufacturers state the pH only for certain percentage solutions, after dilution. Watch out for this! You are not handling the diluted solution when purchased ... you are handling the concentrate! This concentrate will have a higher pH and could be dangerous. This is a very deceptive practice. Ask for, or measure, the pH of the concentrate. Some manufacturers say their product is "proprietary" and list no information in Section 2. While this is legal in some cases, they are still required, by law, to tell you the hazardous ingredients if you ask.
